Google Podcasts offers plenty of options to play around with when you are listening to your favorite podcast. You can skip podcasts back and forth and change the reading speed if you are a fast listener and want to save some time. Clicking on the speed option reveals another cool feature. You can trim silent parts of a podcast where no one is talking. There is also a sleep timer function if you listen to podcasts in your bed. Pocket Casts offers all the features existing in Google Podcasts and goes beyond that. There is a sleep timer and an option to skip podcasts by a few seconds back and forward. I like the bookmark feature denoted by a star. Doing that saves the podcast episode to my profile so I can revisit it in the future. If you tap on the Timer button, there is an additional option called Volume boost, which will increase the volume, and it works. However, I never felt the need for it as I always use headphones. Still, useful if you are surrounded by noise and don’t have headphones on you. Pocket Casts comes with several additional features that are not available on Google Podcasts yet. By default, forward skip is set to 30 seconds while the backward skip is set to 10 seconds on both.

Whoever thought that a tiny vertical scrolling list with hidden features was a good idea for a widescreen 5K display should be removed from UX responsibilities. System Preferences certainly wasn't perfect but, even with your attempt to help, System Settings is objectively inferior. ![]() But that’s also *not* it, as it then constantly hides the menu bar on the main display, which I quite dislike.Easily the worst thing to be introduced to MacOS for as long as I can remember. Another possibility is telling macOS to hide the menu bar automatically. Your solution is helpful and preferable to the default, but it means it’s *never* there. ![]() That’s perfect! Now on the secondary display, it’s *always* there. When I come out of full screen, it reappears. What I was looking for was a way for macOS to do simply as it does on my main display! On my MBP screen, when I use quickview on full screen, the menu bar disappears. I actually find it fairly useful at times. You see, I don’t really mind the menu bar on my external monitor. One small problem: upon logging back on as per your instructions, I realized the results weren’t *exactly* what I was looking for. While you wrote it a few years back, I was lucky to still find this helpful post. The menu bar is useful in some situations - and you can always reverse this process if you want it back - but it’s nice to know how to get rid of it, isn’t it? Except for that darn menu bar, as you can see in this subsequent photo of SlingTV on the external monitor: And here’s a handy tip: When you do go to log out, check the window that pops up:Ĭhoose “Reopen windows when logging back in”, click “Log Out” and once you log in again everything will be as it was. ![]() Pah! You don’t need to do that!Īnd, as you can see, choose “Log Out”. What’s interesting is that most people don’t know how to log out of their Mac system, and even in the other tutorials I’ve read on this subject, the writers say that you should just restart the system. When you do change the setting, by the way, it’ll tell you something interesting: What they’re thinking with this description I’m not sure, I’d have it instead read “Show menu bar on external displays” but at least you now know. You’ll want to click on “Mission Control”…Īs I’ve highlighted, the puzzlingly labelled “Displays have separate Spaces” controls the menu bar on the second, external display. To start, go to System Preferences… from the Apple icon on the top left. Turns out you can turn off the menu bar on external monitors in Mac OS X, but it’s not where you’d think it would be… Works great except, like in your situation, it’s really annoying to have the app “full screen” and still have a menu bar along the top of the TV itself.įun to watch the movie on TV from my computer, but, um, the blue menu bar? No thanks! Works well, particularly with my SlingTV app which lets me ignore the lame channel line up of most hotels and instead watch the channels I prefer, or anything out of iTunes, Netflix, etc. I must say you have good timing with this question submission because I’ve been on the road for a few days, plugging my own MacBook Pro into the HDMI port of the TV in my hotel room and running it as a second display. “Gravity explains the motions of the planets but it cannot explain who sets the planets in motion.” – Isaac Newtonĩ. “If I am anything, which I highly doubt, I have made myself so by hard work.” – Isaac NewtonĨ. I’ve put together the most inspirational Isaac Newton quotes about life, science and God to expand your mind and help you be successful. Sir Isaac Newton was described in his own day as a “natural philosopher”. In addition to this, he invented the reflecting telescope and shares credit with Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz for developing the infinitesimal calculus. It is here where he describes his famous three laws of motion along with the law of gravity. Isaac Newton, mathematician, physicist, astronomer, theologian, and author published his masterpiece Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica (which means “Mathematical principals of Natural Philosophy”) in 1687. He returned to school to complete his education as a top-ranked student. When he was a teenager, Newton was taken out of school by his mother and attempted to make him a farmer, an occupation he hated. Sir Isaac Newton is widely recognised as one of the most influential scientists of all time, and a key figure in the scientific revolution. Let us trust his skill and thank him for his prescription. This is our latest collection of the best Sir Isaac Newton quotes. ![]() "Trials are medicines which our gracious and wise Physician prescribes because we need them and he proportions the frequency and weight of them to what the case requires. In each section I will highlight potential issues and tightnesses you may have if you fail the test assessment for each articulation. You may want to do the assessment first completely cold (not warmed up or stretched) to see what your everyday mobility is, then once again after doing a full body stretching routine, just to compare. Too much flexibility with no mobility leads also to increased risk of injury! If you don’t know the difference check out this tutorial. You want to have good flexibility AND good mobility. There is a key difference and it’s good to know both. In each section there will be a flexibility assessment and/or a mobility assessment. How to give yourself a Mobility Assessment Excluding circumstances where there is something other than joint or muscle tightness leading to your immobility, this should give you 90% (made up figure) of what you need to know, for your average person. However, for people that can’t afford physio/osteo/any other kind of treatment, or are just curious, doing this assessment is the best way to take the first step towards learning where their imbalances lie. Even if I was a physical therapist, a self assessment will never be as accurate or effective as an expert having a look at you. This assessment is not intended to a be replacement for getting proper treatment. Being able to give yourself a mobility assessment is a great way of telling what your focus areas are, so you can get to work and prevent injury!ĭISCLAIMER: One important thing to note is that I am not a physical therapist or licensed physiotherapist. Players continue using the same time-travel mechanic. Like in the first episode, Joe travels between groovy 1972 and a terrible post-apocalyptic future with his solar-powered time-machine. The second part of House on Fire’s The Silent Age continues janitor Joe’s time-traveling adventures as he saves the world from certain destruction. Destroy a poison ivy seedling in 1972, and avoid a poison ivy outbreak in the future. Using the point-and-click system, Joe can change the past to change the future. Joe is able to pop between 1972, present day for our polyester-loving hero, and a desolate future with a mysterious device. The flavortext is so good, I found myself screenshotting scene after scene, and actually giggling aloud over some of Joe’s remarks. I mean, yes, I wanted to find the mysterious time-traveler and I wanted to know why Joe’s picture was labelled a person of interest, but I also wanted to see what would happen if I asked Joe to stick this paperclip in the hornet’s nest. The Silent Age tells a darker story, but still has room for ridiculous flavor text. I remember discovering that some of the “wrong” combination in point-and-click adventures like Monkey Island were funnier than the combinations that actually advanced the game. To help Joe on his mission, players solve puzzles by exploring, pocketing everything that’s not nailed down, and using items creatively. It is important to tie the centre of the pom-pom tightly to prevent it from falling apart, so I chose to use twine for the next step so that I could pull it tightly without fear of it breaking. Next, with the scissors in the centre channel, cut the yarn around the circumference of the circle. When the first side is full of yarn, close that half of the circle. Then do the same on the other side. To make the pom-pom, you start by wrapping the yarn around one pair of semicircular forms until it is full (you do need to retain a slight arch shape in the centre). The two halves are pushed together while forming the pom-pom and then split open (as in the picture below) to release the finished pom-pom. The pom-pom maker has two pairs of semi-circular forms that open and close around a split core. I found an 800m ball, which was just enough. I was surprised that about 22-23m of yarn were required to make each pom-pom, so do buy enough in advance.
